I bought 2 of these, 1 for work, and 1 for home. 2 issues. There are only a few USB ports. By the time you hook up a monitor, mouse, and external hard drive, then you have to use the computer ports for other USB plug ins, like connecting to a phone, charging a fitbit, etc.
The other issue is the monitor output is only w/ the new high def connector, no HDMI output. So I had to order new cables for both work and home, and they aren't cheap.
But the setup was easy, and the computer connects solidly.

Do not purchase this model if you have 2 external monitors!!!!!!! Not sure about only 1 external monitor.
We've purchased three of these docking stations for our office and after a few months of working fine, the two external monitors for each setup started randomly going black and flickering. This happens multiple times a day and causes huge frustration in the office. We've tried the daisy-chained setup as well as having separate cables connect each external monitor directly to the docking station. Each of our three setups has different brand monitors, so we found the monitors were not causing the issue. We also found that the laptop and external monitors work properly with an entirely different docking station (not HP brand). I've read numerous HP forums as well as spoke with our IT company and found that the issue is primarily with the docking station. It seems that maybe this model is no longer supported, therefore, there are no updated drivers or firmware to download? Not sure, but extremely disappointed in this product. We had such high hopes and expectations just to be let down. Do yourself a favor and look for a different docking station. Good luck!

Vielleicht mal ein gescheites Displayportkabel verwenden, welches auch für 4K geeignet ist? Verwende die Dockingstation mit einem 4K Monitor über DP (auch in 4K Auflösung), einem HD Monitor mit Adapter von DP auf HDMI und zusätzlich dem Laptop Bildschirm selbst, läuft so bestens mit drei Anzeigen.

It's really nice HP have a proper dock for their business notebooks. We have about 25 notebooks which are a mix of Elitebook's and ProBook's (depending on power user or standard user) and the really nice thing is this dock is universal which means hot-desking is no problem and everyone has standard kit and we have no day to day problems. Most of our docks drive 2x monitors and work perfectly. The only thing to watch for is that the laptop has HDMI output and the dock has 2x DisplayPort (AND 1x VGA) so ensure you have the right cables for it!

The notebook locates easily onto this dock compared to some horrible Dell ones we used to have and it works well. No complaints. A TIP is that there is a firmware update available for this dock which HP hide well so ensure you update this. I cannot link to this on the review but the HP SoftPaq number for this is sp100099 so please search for: SoftPaq sp100099 and you should find this firmware update yourself which is latest to date :) I hope that is useful for some people!!
