There are many great things about this alarm clock - the rotating bezel is so easy to use, for example. HOWEVER the backlighting function just doesn't work correctly. The clock spontaneously illuminates at random, and stays lit for at least half an hour - vey unhelpful when a person is trying to sleep. This has been the case with both a rechargeable battery and a brand new Duracell Plus battery. John Lewis kindly replaced my initial purchase, but the replacement had exactly the same fault. JL have been helpful and courteous throughout, but sadly, I cannot recommend this clock.

Love the product and the design. Changing the time with the outer ring is also easy and intuitive.
Would have preferred physical buttons for snooze and light though for better feedback.

Update:
After using it for 3 weeks, it becomes unreliable. The alarm is not going off.
Have already tried to reset the alarm, but unfortunately it's still not working.
This is very disappointing, beautiful and good design is important, but if it doesn't function it's still useless.

I really like this clock. I use it as a bedside clock. I do not like having light shine in my face as a sleep (it's about 3 feet from my face). Therefore, being able to turn the dial in the middle of the night to check the time is ideal for me. I do wish the alarm time only showed if the alarm was turned on ... this would improve the clock's design. With ambient light in the room (during the daytime) it's easy to read the clock.

Easy to set up; touch, in turn, the symbols left and right of the time to adjust the alarm and time which is done by rotating the bezel; there is a switch on the back to turn the alarm on/off - when on, the display shows a green alarm bell. The backlight is turned on by moving the bezel.

In all the clock is nicely styled, the only down side is the display which is a little on the dim side in normal use and doesn't show up too well.. .the backlight is, also, quite dim. It has no moving parts and makes no noise.
